The Power of Rest: When Your Body Tells You to Slow Down
Share
If you follow my blog, you might have noticed that last week I didn’t post. No blog, no social media updates—just silence. And honestly? I needed that.
The past two weeks at my full-time job were incredibly demanding, and on top of that, I had just started my menstrual cycle. I felt drained, both physically and mentally. I simply didn’t have the energy to create, and instead of pushing through exhaustion, I chose to listen to my body.
Now, if you’ve been keeping up with my journey, you know that my word for 2025 is Consistency—but consistency doesn’t mean burnout. It means showing up in a way that’s sustainable, in a way that honors both progress and rest.
Sometimes, your body will tell you exactly what it needs. And last week, mine was practically screaming: Slow down. Rest. Recharge.
The Balance Between Hustle and Rest
It’s easy to fall into the mindset of “always doing.” In a world that glorifies productivity, taking a step back can feel like a setback. But in reality, it’s a setup for something greater.
If you’ve read my book Get Grounded, you know there’s a reason I incorporated different elements into each chapter—Spotify playlists, journaling prompts, light workouts, and personal stories. Life isn’t just about pushing forward; it’s also about checking in with yourself and finding what you need in the moment.
Some weeks, you’re on fire—crushing goals, making moves, creating content. Other weeks? You need to lounge on the couch, watch TV, go to bed at 9 PM, and let yourself just be.
Why Resting is a Power Move
Rest isn’t weakness. It’s not laziness. It’s strategy.
When you allow yourself to slow down, you’re actually setting yourself up for a stronger comeback. You’re replenishing your energy, refueling your creativity, and giving yourself the space to step into the next week recharged and ready.
I get it—when you have big goals, it’s tempting to push through exhaustion and keep grinding. But if your body is telling you to take a break, listen. Give yourself permission to rest without guilt. Because when you return, you’ll be even more powerful.
Your Reminder: Honor Your Energy
So, if you’re feeling drained, overwhelmed, or just off—ask yourself:
- Do I need a break?
- Am I honoring my body’s signals?
- What would true self-care look like this week?
Maybe your answer is to take a slow morning. Maybe it’s an “off” week filled with rest and quiet. And that’s okay. Because greatness isn’t built on exhaustion—it’s built on aligned energy.
Take the rest you need, and when you’re ready, come back stronger.
You’ve got this.
