The Power of Optimal Health: Reclaiming My Energy and Focus

The Power of Optimal Health: Reclaiming My Energy and Focus

If you’ve read Get Grounded, you know that in Chapter 5, I dive into The Power of Optimal Health—not just as a concept, but as a necessity when navigating life’s biggest transitions. I’ve seen firsthand how stress can take a toll on my body, from cold sores flaring up to a weakened immune system and a completely disregulated nervous system. And let’s be real—stress doesn’t happen in isolation.

My cross-country move, working for a company that wasn’t aligned with my long-term goals, and tension in certain family relationships all created an undercurrent of chaos in my life. In hindsight, I should have been much firmer with my boundaries. Instead, I let external stress seep in, and my health paid the price.

The Shift: Reclaiming My Health and Boundaries

The turning point? I made a conscious decision to regain control. I switched to a different Business Management firm that aligned with my values and truly appreciated my work. This shift alone lifted an enormous weight off my shoulders. I also became ruthless about my time—2024 showed me just how much energy I had wasted on people and situations that didn’t deserve it. Going into 2025, consistency is my word, and reprioritizing my priorities is my mission.

Pilates, acupuncture, and supplements were my first steps in regulating my nervous system, and I started to notice fewer cold sores and a greater sense of balance. But I wasn’t done yet.

Leveling Up: My Optimal Health Strategy for 2024-2025

Between 2024 and 2025, I took my health to a whole new level. Here’s how:

  • Completed 75 Hard (Yes, an entire year!) – This mental toughness program pushed me beyond my limits, and I came out stronger than ever.
  • Cut out alcohol – No more dulling my energy or focus. I wanted to be fully present in my life.
  • Dived into therapy – Emotional well-being is just as important as physical health.
  • Committed to consistency – From my workouts to my work schedule, I made sure my habits were aligned with my goals.
  • Prioritized my relationship – Showing up on time for date nights with my girlfriend Joy became non-negotiable (a much-needed change from my end).

One of the most unexpected yet powerful additions to my routine? Network Wellness Center in Boulder. A friend introduced me to this holistic chiropractic office, and while it might seem a little woo woo, the results have been undeniable. They use a unique technique of applying targeted pressure to the body to calm the nervous system, and after going through their spinal tests, I was shocked at the difference.

The Takeaway: Protect Your Energy

I’ve learned that optimal health isn’t just about fitness or diet—it’s about how we manage stress, who we surround ourselves with, and whether we respect our own boundaries. 2024 was a wake-up call, but 2025 is all about consistency. My body, my mind, and my time deserve that level of care.

If you’re feeling out of alignment, start small. Evaluate where your energy is going. Set boundaries. Invest in your well-being. And most importantly, stay consistent. Your future self will thank you.
