When You’re Sick of the “Find Yourself” Talk… But Know You Can’t Ignore It

When You’re Sick of the “Find Yourself” Talk… But Know You Can’t Ignore It

Let’s be real for a minute . . . how many times have you rolled your eyes at the phrase “find your authentic self”?

When You’re Sick of the “Find Yourself” Talk… But Know You Can’t Ignore It

I get it. We’ve heard it all before. It’s been printed on yoga studio walls, stitched into throw pillows, and spoken by people when we’re just trying to get through our day. But let me tell you something I’ve learned, when that phrase starts grating on you, it’s often because it’s tapping into something deeper.

That ache, the discomfort, the ugh-not-this-again feeling? That might actually be your inner compass whispering: You’ve drifted away from your core values.

And that’s where the journey back to yourself begins, not with some grand revelation on a mountaintop, but with honesty about whether or not your life reflects who you actually are.

The Real Question Isn’t “Who Am I?” It’s “Am I Living in Alignment?”

When I was writing Get Grounded, I didn’t want to add more noise to the self-help world. I wanted to create a clear path—especially for women in transition or high-pressure environments—to come back home to themselves.

The reason we feel off, burnt out, bitter, or anxious isn’t always because we need to completely reinvent who we are. It’s often because we’ve abandoned parts of ourselves that were once non-negotiable.

Maybe you used to value honesty, but now you find yourself people-pleasing to keep the peace.

Maybe freedom was always your north star, but now your schedule owns you.

Maybe you believed in compassion, but now you’re so overstretched you don’t even extend grace to yourself.

Sound familiar?

The Truth Behind the Exhaustion

I talk a lot in Get Grounded about paying attention to the moments that drain you. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Sometimes we’re not tired because we’re doing too much. We’re tired because we’re doing the wrong things or doing things in a way that betrays our deeper truth.

If you’ve ever said, “I don’t even recognize myself anymore”, pause. That’s not just a dramatic statement. It’s a signal.

One that asks: Are you honoring your values? Or are you living someone else’s version of success, of happiness, of ‘having it all’?

Returning to Your Roots Isn’t Trendy. It’s Necessary.

Finding your authentic self isn’t about taking a weekend trip to Bali or overhauling your entire life overnight. It’s about realigning. And you don’t need a fancy plan to begin. You just need the courage to tell yourself the truth:

  • What do I care about most?

  • Where in my life am I compromising that?

  • What would it feel like to live a little closer to those values this week?

Get Grounded is your guide to reconnecting with that truth. It’s not a rulebook it’s a reminder. That you already have the answers. You just need space, stillness, and support to hear them again.

Final Thought

If you’re sick and tired of the whole “find yourself” mantra, maybe that’s because a part of you knows who you are and you’re tired of not living like it.

You don’t need to become someone new. You need to return to who you’ve always been.

And that, my friend, is the heart of getting grounded.

If this hit home for you, I invite you to go deeper with the Get Grounded mindset guidebook. It’s not just another workbook, it’s your compass through life’s transitions, reconnecting you with your core values, your voice, and your vision.
