When Fear Took Over—And I Ignored My Inner Compass

When Fear Took Over—And I Ignored My Inner Compass

It was right there. The moment I had been waiting for. The kind of opportunity that doesn’t just knock—it bangs on your door, demanding to be answered. And yet, I hesitated. I second-guessed. I let fear take the wheel.

I told myself all the things that felt reasonable at the time:

"Maybe I’m not ready yet."
"What if I fail?"
"What will people think?"

And just like that, the opportunity slipped through my fingers. Someone else took the leap. Someone else trusted themselves. Someone else silenced the fear that I allowed to paralyze me.

And I was left sitting in the quiet aftermath, stomach twisted with regret, knowing deep down—I was meant for that.

Fear Will Rob You Blind If You Let It

Fear is sneaky like that. It doesn’t always come as a full-blown panic attack or an obvious no. Sometimes, it disguises itself as logic, practicality, or waiting for the perfect moment. It convinces you that you’re not quite ready, that you need more time, more credentials, more experience.

But the truth? The moment is never perfect. The experience comes from doing. And the only difference between the ones who go for it and the ones who don’t… is trust.

Not trust in the opportunity.
Not trust in the external circumstances.
But trust in yourself.

Your Inner Compass Already Knows the Way

When you let fear drive, you abandon yourself. You silence the part of you that already knows you are more than capable.

In Get Grounded, I talk about turning inward—learning to listen to your own voice amidst the noise of doubt, opinions, and external expectations. When you ground yourself in who you are, you stop seeking reassurance from the outside world. You stop waiting for someone to tell you you’re ready.

You already are.

You just have to trust the part of you that knows.

Everything You Want Is On The Other Side of Fear

Fear is always standing between you and the life you want. It’s the final test before expansion. And when you recognize that, you stop seeing it as a stop sign and start seeing it as a doorway.

The fear won’t go away.
But you can walk through it anyway.
Because that’s where everything you’ve been craving is waiting for you.

So the next time an opportunity presents itself, and you feel the familiar grip of fear tighten around your chest, ask yourself:

"Am I really not ready? Or am I just scared?"

And if it’s fear—step forward anyway. Because the version of you on the other side is everything you’ve been waiting for.

This ties right back into Get Grounded. The more you confront fear, the more grounded you become. The more you trust yourself, the less power fear has over you. And before you know it, you’re not just chasing opportunities—you’re creating them.

Let this be the last time you let fear steal what was meant for you.

It’s time to trust yourself.
